Question
Are we allowed to use tape on the wing joints on Regular class aircraft in 2023?
Answer
No. A rules update, found at the back of the current rule set, prohibits the use of tape on the Regular class wing joints.

Why? Teams will have to add the outer section of the aircraft wing just before they fly when on the flight line. The outer wing panels must be removed before exiting the flight line. Taping and untaping the wing will require extra time.

There are a number of methods that can be used to construct tight wing joints that do not require tape to seal the joint.
