Have questions about your Design Report or FDRR? Get answers straight from the judges.
SAE Aero Design is hosting a live virtual Q&A with the paper judges, and all registered teams are invited to take part. It’s a chance to ask how your reports will be evaluated and what the judges expect to see.

- Format: Live virtual session on RingCentral Events
- Who should attend: Team members from Regular and Advanced Class teams, especially those writing the Design Report, FDRR, or both
What we’ll cover
The judges will answer team-submitted questions live. Topics include:
- Scoring and rubric expectations
- Report formatting, layout and structure
- Technical content and the level of depth judges expect
- Common mistakes to avoid
- The overall paper review process
How to sign up
- Register your team on the Aero Design Virtual Design Report registration page before Thursday November 12, 2026.
- Submit your questions at https://sae.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_7QcJpFCQxLKoyYm. Questions are answered live in the order they’re selected, so we can’t guarantee every question will fit in the session.
- Choose how you’d like to be credited. The form asks whether you’d like your name, your school, both, or neither mentioned when your question is answered. Whatever you choose, we’ll follow it.
Tips for good questions
- Cite the section of the Aero Design rules or report guidelines your question is about, if there is one.
- Ask about the evaluation process rather than your team’s specific design.
- Questions with several parts are welcome. Please number them so the judges can answer each in turn.
